Market 2018-03-26 (MSFT, FB, OSTK, and more)

Market suddenly turns to bullish as trade war threat eases during the weekend. US and China start to negotiate on trade issues. Dow +2.8%, S&P +2.7%, Nasdaq +3.3%.

Treasury: 30-year -0.34%. 10-yr -0.22%. 5-yr -0.15%.

Crude -0.61% to $65.48. Gold +0.24% to $1,353.10US Dollar UUP -0.47%.

Winners

Tech stocks (QQQ +3.7%) lead after being hit hard last week. MSFT +7.6% as Morgan Stanley raises its PT from $110 to $130. NFLX +6.5%, ADBE +6.5%, INTC +6.3%, LRCX +6.1%, AMAT +5.6%, NVDA +4.9%, AAPL +4.7%, AMZN +4%, SQ +3.6%, GOOG +3.1%...

Financial Sector also performs strong. XLF +3.2%.

LOW +6.6%, the company announced that Robert A. Niblock plans to retire as chairman, president and CEO after a 25-year career with the company. The board of directors has initiated a search for his successor.

Losers

FB +0.4%. It fell more than 6.5% in the morning before bouncing back. The FTC confirmation of a probe into Facebook's handling of user data should not be a surprise, says WFC analyst. He says the recent selloff (more than $60B in market cap) in overdone. He rates the stock an Outperform with $230 PT.

Now it has become a broad privacy debate. All the big tech companies: FB (social network), GOOG (android, chrome, gmail, Google Home), AMZN (Echo), AAPL (iOS, icloud, Homepod), MSFT (windows) ... they are actually on the same boat, because they all collect huge amount of personal information. I think Echo, Google Home and Homepod are even worse than Facebook, because they listen to you all the time, even your pillow-talks. Sure, there will be fine and new regulations. But US economy will collapse if all these companies get hammered.

ABBV -2.2%, pipeline failure keeps hurting stock price, which is similar what we have seen on CELG.

AMD -1.8%, as Susquehanna downgrade AMD from Neutral to Negative with a price target drop to $7.50.

Overstock.com (OSTK -1.3%) announces that it intends to offer 4M shares in an underwritten public offering. Shares -8.5% in AH.

YY -3.8% continues to be volatile following ER. MOMO -0.1%.

ER in AH

Red Hat (RHT +3.5%): Q4 EPS of $0.91 beats by $0.10. Revenue of $772.33M (+22.8% Y/Y) beats by $10.73M. Shares +4.2%.

My Trades Today

Double down on FB @ $150.
Double down on YY @ $115.6.

Comments

  1. 我觉得今天大盘表现很多是speculation的结果,是trump让他的跟班出来托市。看起来像是short covering居多和机器人操盘的结果。严肃投资者真正的long buying 大概不多。个人感觉。
